Why do Mondays have to be the start of the week?

As I walked into work today I was joined by a number of people in the elevator. After the flor buttons were pushed and we began our asend, one of the people said "I can't believe it is Monday already". The person replied "yeah, why do Mondays have to start our week"!

I was not really paying attention until the door opened to my floor and as I exited the elevator I thought to myself "what if the work week started on Wednesday? We could work three days -- Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and have two days off and work only two days -- Monday and Tuesday before the start of the new work week!

What an idea! Now I know what you are thinking, "Janice, we still work five days in a row" but what do we know about life? It's all about perspective and attitude! Would your perspective be different if you knew that at the start of a new work week that started on a Wednesday you only had two more days until the weekend? Oncethe weekend was done you only had two days until the beginning of the next work week!

Wouldn't this create a more positive attitude?what do we know about positive attitudes? They become more real when you can have small successes. Right? I know I can work two or three days in a row without going nuts, so what if today and tomorrow are just getting ready days for the start of the new work week that starts on Wednesday!

It may be a little far fetched, I understand, but pretend for just a few minutes that this was reality. That Monday wasn't the start of your week, rather the middle of your week! You would be back in the groove, ready for the rest of the week, and motivated to do more!

Humor me...better yet, humor yourself and as you go off to work tomorrow think to yourself "whoa tomorrow is the new work week already I made it"! See what happens!
